Our Mission
African Portrait Gallery celebrates African achievement through portrait art, preserving the stories, identities, and legacies of remarkable individuals whose leadership, creativity, and service have shaped Africa and its diaspora. Through art, we inspire cultural appreciation and preserve meaningful narratives for future generations.
Our Collections
Our collections bring together Living Models, Past Heroes, and Concept Portraits, celebrating influential individuals, historical legacies, and ideas that shape the African experience. Through diverse artistic mediums and interpretations, APG preserves significant stories, honours outstanding contributions, and inspires a deeper appreciation of Africa's cultural and intellectual heritage.
Our Exhibitions
APG presents thoughtfully curated portrait exhibitions online, and in selected physical venues, creating opportunities for audiences to discover the people and stories behind the art. Through these exhibitions, we celebrate African excellence, encourage cultural dialogue, and connect communities with the individuals whose achievements have helped shape Africa's history, identity, and future.
Our Journals
The African Portrait Journal explores African achievement, art, culture, and history through compelling editorials, photographic portraits, and insightful storytelling. Featuring celebrated figures and unsung heroes, our editorial series preserves important narratives, highlights overlooked contributions, and invites readers to engage with the people, ideas, and experiences that shape Africa and its diaspora.
