Commission a Portrait

The African Portrait Gallery accepts requests for the creation of portraits intended for cultural, historical, personal,
institutional, commemorative, or gallery-related purposes. A commissioned portrait may be requested for a living individual, a deceased person, a historical figure, or a symbolic subject whose life, work, memory, or meaning deserves artistic representation. Approved requests may require APG reps to contact the requester for further details about the portrait type, artistic approach, cost, timeline, required materials, and next steps.
